In and of whether the Opal is an unusual stone that here in Italy is short sale, search, and still bought it and like getting a few of the very few people know this variety of opal.
The fire opal.
Opal is an amorphous mineral (hydrated silica: SiO2 · nH2O), vary in color from transparent to milky white, with a infinity of different intermediates (green, red, yellow, brown black). The opalescence, the play of color and light presented by the opal samples, is due to interference effects and the diffraction of light caused in turn by the regular arrangement of silica spheres which are arranged in a packaged form, regular and three-dimensional, is similar to the disposition of the crystals. A
heating of samples of opal can cause dehydration and, therefore, the loss of the effect of opalescence. A partial rehydration of the samples obtained by prolonged immersion in water damaged.
